Family Lessons

Family events are often a relic of western societies. In the age of distraction caused by smartphones and the internet, intimate family gatherings are things of the past. As a child, I had many family events that would often send me reminiscing. Although one that sticks with me all these years and would have a great impact on me are family meals. I was fortunate enough to be born into a large family whose mother was a great cook. Family dinners for my family were a daily affair that everyone would look forward to, not only because of the great food but because of the closeness that was nurtured among the family members. It made me appreciate the value of conversation and spending time with family.
